Pete's Garage

Design-Build | Historic Restoration | Concrete | Carpentry
9,044 square foot renovation
This one-story garage building was historically part of a larger complex for the International Harvester Company in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Constructed in 1936, the structural clay tile building functioned as an auto truck sales and service garage, and it’s most recent use was as a retail furniture store.

Description

The goal of the renovation and historic rehabilitation of Pete’s Garage was to utilize the space as a bicycle/sporting goods retail and repair business, creating an open and unfinished industrial appearance similar to service garages of the era. Windowed ceilings allowed in natural daylight, allowing most tasks to be performed without artificial lighting. The project utilized historic renovation tax credits as a funding source. Pete’s Garage was honored with multiple awards such as the Build Wisconsin Award from the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin.
