1,400 square foot light station rehabilitation

The rehabilitation of two historic buildings, the lighthouse tower and the Keeper’s Residence complied with the standards of the National Park Service and the Secretary of Interiors Standards for the Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings.

Description

The scope of this project was the restoration of the historic light station on Cana Island in Door County, Wisconsin, first built in 1869. Immel Construction served as the construction manager for the project and delivered the work over $65,000 under the original budget.

The Lighthouse’s copper roof was repaired and lantern room windows were carefully removed and re-glazed. Along the entire tower, crews removed lead paint and matched colors to those on the structure when it was first built to restore its initial look and also made repairs to the steel siding. All work was completed around tourist traffic with little to no interruption
